Maqbool Fida Husain, (born September 17, 1915, Pandharpur, Maharashtra, India - died June 9,2011, London, United Kingdom ) popularly known as MF, was an artist of Indian origin.Maqbool Fida Husain, the artist who earned fame and controversy over his paintings, died in a London hospital at 2.30 am on Thursday. He was 95.

The legendary artist M.F. Husain had a habit of using the day's newspaper ( The Hindu) to paint some of his pictures based on the headlines. Taking a cue from it, a Joint Director in Social Welfare Department in-charge of West and East Godavari districts R. Mallikarjuna Rao paid tributes to the artist by producing seven art pieces on Friday issue of The Hindu that contained seven news items on the departed soul. Making the modern art understandable for general people M.F. Husain chose the mass media, said Mr. Rao and tried to capture the gist of the news reports through his line sketches and water colours.
