Life is a riot of colours. But do we need to colour mother earth by being riotous? Colours enhance beauty and bring brightness to the monotony in life. Just as colours blend to a richer and a unique hue, let the different cultures and castes of the world blend to create a richer and a new civilization.
Terrorists’ outfits have mushroomed in different parts of the world for various exclusive reasons. Fundamentalism, religious sentiments, political maneuvering and moral bankruptcy have all converged to one thing: that is to create terror and fear in the minds of the common masses. I feel sorry for the misguided youth, for their lack of wisdom and discernment. Their bleak and blank faces speak for this.
If terrorism flashes a red colour on our Mother Earth, we have the world’s growing population adding the brown. The rising population of the developing countries and the affluent consumption and the production pattern of the developed countries have placed a huge stress on the environment. Global warming and stratospheric ozone depletion are affecting all living beings, insects , animals, marine life and human beings alike; most of the small island states and coastal areas will see devastation to unimaginable levels. Are you surprised to know that this year New Delhi shivered with 3 degree Celsius while New York was out with shorts and t-shirts to enjoy the spring at 21 degree Celsius?
Shouldn’t we go for purer and greener world devoid of any red? Can we be satisfied boasting about our research and letting climatic change take place undeterred? Can we feel happy with the fast and rapid economic growth while millions are dying due to malnutritionment? Can we be at peace, while small children are being kidnapped, sexually assaulted and murdered brutally to fulfill the animal instinct of our kind? Can we relax with the thought that we are safe and secure, while others perish in bomb blasts; without realizing that we may be next? Can we just sit back and leisure at our achievements while our Mother Earth is going ‘Red’ over ‘Green’? We need to reverse the trend. We need to halt the aggressive strategies of the extremists, and the militants…
We need to create a congenial atmosphere to live.
Let us add colour with love, generosity, tolerance and humanity. Let us recognize the tears in the eyes of a child. In fact let us look at the world through the eyes of the child. Let this bring a change in the heart of everyone. Then we can be truly happy!
