A Career in the BPO Industry.

The BPO industry has evolved over the years from being a call centric industry to a matured analytic sector. In the year 1999, when the BPO industry first evolved, 85% of the services were related to voice based operations. 7 years down the line, only 35% accounted to voiced based operations.

BPO stands for Business Process Outsourcing which usually involves a third party client. When the clients are located in different countries, its called Offshore Outsourcing and when the client are located in neighboring countries, its called Near Shore Outsourcing.

New processes that include Financial services like insurance claims, mortgages and banking, ITES, Legal Processes (LPO), HR process etc have taken over the industry creating more opportunities.

LPO (Legal Process Outsourcing) and KPO (Knowledge Process Outsourcing) are the new sub-segments of the BPO industry which involve advanced analytical skills and is now fast growing into a sector of its own.

A career in the BPO industry in indeed valuable where you can evolve and grow depending on your language, analytical skills and aptitude. Individuals who have a flair in training and quality can also take up a positions on the appropriate fields. Not only is it a high paying sector, recent investments by foreign clients in the BPO industry has created more opportunities.
