
Just a few days back we learnt about the 2 undersea lines being damaged off Egypt's northern coast. Then there was a third one last Friday (FLAG owned FALCON) running through Suez to Sri Lanka. And now a fourth one is the cable operated by Qatar's Q-Tel, which linked Qatar to the United Arab Emirates.
95% of worlds telephone and internet traffic is routed through undersea cables. Now with such a coincidence (if we believe it to be), the safety of these undersea cables are really in question. Million$$s have been invested by private companies to create this undersea network, and with the growing need and usage of Internet the reliability of this service is crucial.
