3,000 IIM seats and 2.15 lakh candidates. 10,000 IIT seats and 4.5 lakh aspirants. And 30 nursery seats and 300 applications in a single day. At nursery level too, there seems to be a rat race.

If you have a child to be admitted to a pre-school in 2012, then get set for the battle now. It's still eight months for your child's first day in school, but prominent schools in the city have already opened their admission counters for nursery admissions. It's that time of the year where parents have to brave the long queues, fill in the answers to the many questions in the forms, prepare for the interactive sessions and feel the pinch in the pockets.

On Monday, a prominent school in Rajajinagar witnessed anxious parents losing their patience and control on the fear of not getting application forms. The problem is, undoubtedly, the skewed demand and supply ratio. While parents chase quality of education, educational institutions that can satisfy the requirements are not easy to find
