199th 1M/1M Roundtable For Entrepreneurs: Final One For 2013

Nanothermo

First up, Rekha Bangalore from Austin, Texas, pitched Nanothermo, a thermal cooling technology for LED lighting. Rekha needs some funding, and is having difficulty cracking the seed market in Austin. Well, semiconductor, cleantech and related markets are seeing very little funding these days. Besides, it seems Rekha has been approaching VCs, whereas, the deal is at a seed stage.

Letsintern

Next, Rishabh Gupta from Mumbai, India, pitched Letsintern, a portal for students to connect with internships, as well as other career development resources. Letsintern has recently changed its business model from employers paying for the service to students paying. The company is generating revenue, and trying to figure out its growth strategy vis-à-vis financing, markets, etc.

Edcoogle

Then, Apoorv Gaur from New Delhi, India, pitched Edcoogle, a K-12 portal for students and teachers to find the best videos on specific topics organized by grade level. The portal also supports a Quora-style Q&A function that is available for each topic / video through which teachers and students can interact. An MVP launch is coming soon.

ClearChex

Karen Malik from Burlingame, California, pitched ClearChex, a payment app through which organizations can collect check-style payments. Non-profits, churches, community organization in particular are interested in using the product for its low transaction fee structure ($.25 per transaction). It is vastly cheaper than credit cards, Paypal, etc.

Innoprep

Last up, Satyamrut Uttarkabat from Bhubaneswar, India, pitched Innoprep, which he started off by presenting as a ‘prepare for anything’ concept. The project is very early, and I asked Satyam to flesh it out with a clear eye on monetization strategy, which he hypothesizes will be around test prep.
