Degree vs. Experience - who to choose?


One has years of experience, but no prior schooling or degree, while the other one has a degree and a few certifications, but no real prior experience.

Recruitment and selection is the process of identifying the need for a job, defining the requirements of the position and the job holder, advertising the position and choosing the most appropriate person for the job. Retention means ensuring that once the best person has been recruited, they stay with the business and are not "poached" by rival companies.

Undertaking this process is one of the main objectives of management. Indeed, the success of any business depends to a large extent on the quality of its staff. Recruiting employees with the correct skills can add value to a business and recruiting workers at a wage or salary that the business can afford, will reduce costs. Employees should therefore be carefully selected, managed and retained, just like any other resource

A study was conducted among the different HR Manager of various industries at Coimbatore using open ended and closed ended questionnaire the fining states that out 20 HR managers 5 are stating that sound experience over degree without experience, 8 of them stating that both of them having their own strategies while they are working so I an organization should have the combination of both experienced as well as degree makes a big difference compare to others. The remaining 8 are going for fresher with degree because only the fresher we can mould then like any shape.

Whether Degree or Experience only the Management policy making them to work for the organization.
